Kinya wrote "I'm now at a new school ..... because we moved after eviction ... I'm still working hard." Kinya, her single mother and two brothers have been squatting on government land for years, living in a one-room house belonging to someone else. Now they were homeless. I wanted to help them help themselves. The CFCA Timau project working with the children and families in this area at the foot of Mt. Kenya, said the best solution would be for Kinya's family to own a plot of land and to build a home for themselves. Their own place provides an opportunity to grow vegetables and raise animals for food and some income.I kept trying to imagine a way to raise money when I realized I have created so many watercolor paintings in the past few years that my home is full. Suddenly I knew that I must use my talents and opportunities to help.I hope you discover a painting in my gallery that inspires you to help Kinya's family move toward self-sufficiency.
